What’s a monome?

Posted in Uncategorized on December 10, 2007 by useimaginations

It’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. It’s art. It’s minimalist. It’s music. It’s possibilities are endless.

It’s also just some lights in a box; and that’s why its great.

The art is very good.  There is some interesting conceputal design work in the journal . The cover and binding are simply beautiful. It`s hard to grasp the full quality of the art, some of the images are sort of blurry. Over all, it looks pretty good. http://www.narniaweb.com/gallery.asp?startID=3445&endID=3449&groupName=Portfolio%20Pictures

Cool P.C. movie trailer

Posted in Uncategorized on December 7, 2007 by howard37

I saw this on another web site, and I just thought I would share it. The movie trailer is pretty amazing . It`s too bad the movie isn`t coming out until may 2008. Oh well, it`s still worth watching the trailer. Also, this is an official trailer and not a fan made one. A lot of people on you tube have been trying to pass off fake ones. enjoy http://www.narniaweb.com/news.asp?id=1355&dl=14478175

so i woke up at like, 9:30 today.. and did my freakin’ laundry. as a result, i’m incredibly tired. but i have clean clothes! that’s a plus. these are a few good links i found in class today. read: now, becuase i don’t feel like adding life-like content. giving my last speech in public speaking today, though.

Microsoft worried about Linux taking over the Mobile OS market… I’m not a Microsoft fan (I have a Macbook and a Wii) so this amused me a lot. Plus, all my friends are all Linux lovers.

Another amusing one, though less XP-hate: Dolphins use Weed to get Mates. At first I thought it said “dolphins use weed to get mates” and i was like.. where is the marijuana underground, whaaaaaat wtf?? So I read it and like “oh, WEEDS. like.. ground weeds.”

this makes me depressed to be american. failures of the department of homeland security. also comp usa might be going out of business?

that’s all! :D

The world, survival, and writing

Posted in Uncategorized on December 6, 2007 by useimaginations

I’ve been thinking about a question Prof. Wolff asked today:  Why is it that reading and writing is so prevalent, and increasingly so, in our society.

I think it has to do with our very survival as a species.  The thing that makes us human is the ability to communicate in the way we do.  Think back to cro-magnon man and our ancestors;  they needed to communicate skills to one another in order to survive.  The best way to make a fire is not known from birth, it must be taught.  Knowledge kept us alive as a species, more specifically, the ability to communicate ideas.  Later, even before the written language, stories were used to pass information from tribe to tribe, clan to clan.  Even in the modern world, with all our advances in science, mathematics, and the arts, a baby is born helpless, and ignorant.  We must keep pedaling the bike! These ideas we have amassed throughout so many centuries do not come “installed” in us.  I mean without communication of ideas, we are nothing.  So can’t we say that we as a species ARE ideas?  That’s why we read and write so much, thats why we have made such an effort to connect the globe through writing, symbols, communicating instantly, 24 hours a day; we have to keep teaching and learning.  We can never stop.  It’s our SURVIVAL INSTINCT, and there’s nothing stronger.  We need this to survive.

Does that make sense?

SUL’THRAZE THE LASHER also killers

so, we’re in class, and it’s snowing. these are two obvious facts i felt i should mention. I walked outside, and i was like “it’s not that cold, i don’t need my scarf.” so then i walked, and as i was walking next to the fence, i went “damn, it’s cold, i should have worn my scarf.” and alas, i did not go back. so now i have a cold neck. =( well, not anymore, cause it’s warm in class, but i still have some residual coldness in my neck. last night, i was going to put in a long blog about all these excellent wii articles i found, because i love wii, but then my firefox froze and i got lazy and didn’t feel like finding them again. so instead, i hit level 65 and took one of my guildmates on my 70 warlock’s guild though zul’farrak. also, delicious roleplay. deeeelicious rp. <3333

also, i took my nanowrimo novel and put it into this tagcrowd thing. It’s awesome! i tried to link it here, but it was retarded, and decided against not working, so… i’m not going to put it in. sorry darlings.

meanwhile, as i was walking to class, i heard someone playing “when you were young” blaring from his car stereo. that made me happy. i love the killers.

Bring It On, Visual Rhetoric

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on December 4, 2007 by mrpibb

WE were kinda discussing visual rhetoric in my creative writing 2 class today, moreso the visual aesthetics of the word than what they really communicate. We were peer reviewing a kid’s paper, and in the middle of his poetic verses, he said IPOD. This word, great as ipods are, is ludicrously ugly, and immediately brings about an image of the modern, and the new, as opposed to his flitty, almost Shakespearian prose. I think words and text do hold great influence on visual rhetoric, think of what words with x’s represent. Seeing the letter “x” leaves you feeling kind of excited, or suspenseful, or sometimes even dirty. It’s just got an air of danger to it, I guess. Some words soon come to represent nothing, when was the last time you really concentrated on “The?” All I know is, the fact that I can link pictures onto words is really killing the visual rhetoric of my post.

kingdom hearts

I just thought I would share another one of my random personal interests. I don`t play video games very much . However , I do enjoy the artistry of the games characters and environments. The games are beautifully designed and have an appealing character interaction. Some games graphics are equal ,but perhaps superior to even movie animation. The games created these days have more complex story lines .Kingdom hearts 2 has a great story line, but most of the story`s elements are only half developed.Due to the fact, that the long winded story interferes with the game play. They should just make a 3d movie of kingdom hearts and just be done with it. sora

Today I’m Drinking Hatorade

Posted in Uncategorized on December 4, 2007 by useimaginations

It’s blogging time, yet again my friends.  The semester is coming to a close, the winter winds are gathering with gusto, and I am without a hat.  I realized recently why Christmas music annoys me to the degree which it does (a high degree). Once again coorperate America is to blame.  Christmas music is a wonderful thing, a festive holiday tradition, meant to bring back those same good feelings year after year.  A wonderful notion, and for the few days leading up to Christmas, and Christmas day, those soulful renditions just fill my heart with joy.  The problem is that beginning the day after Thanksgiving, I am pummelled by xmas songs relentlessly as I shop, drive, eat, work, and watch tv.  It’s just too much.  All good things in moderation, right?  It’s the holiday money machine infusing us intreveinously with a 24 hours merriment drip.  Gone are the days when Christmas songs meant something.  Now they just annoy me.

And whatsup with Christmas hogging all the songs anyway?  It’s the only holiday that gets songs.  Thanksgiving song? Don’t be rediculous.  New years has ONE song, and no one even knows what that means, or how to pronounce it.  Halloween gets maybe monster mash, but cmon.  It pales in comparison to the retarted cornucopia of remade christmas classics by J-Lo, Jessica Simpson, Bruce Springsteen, or whatever douchebagging vocalist it is that has decided to retch into my ear relentlessly.   Lee – 1, Christmas Music – 0.

Com on Baby, Blog My Fire

I just recently stumbled upon an old blog from my bff in high school. It’s totally awesome. The entries were about the parties we went to when 15 and 16, the band we used to be in (named after the Lovelace poem, To Althea From Prison, or TAFP). It’s making me get that nostalgic feeling in my gut. I miss my friends from home, I haven’t been very close with them at all. I guess you can’t go back. It makes me wonder on the future of my friendships though, I think myself and friendship have a relatively at the moment convenience kind of relationship. Ho hum, I’m not too worried about it. I mean, there are many moments left in my life, yes? Then many friends, too! I do kinda approve of blogs nowadays. I mean I always have, ever since I was like 12 and got my first freeopendiary and began a little online journal of my own. If only that site didn’t up it’s age to 18, and make you pay to use it.

Oh, phooey.
