you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here

the possibility of this being my last sandblox entry weighs heavily on my mind. i have yet to write my paper (4 hours to go) but i did organize my server space and count the feeds on my netvibes account. (23 -edit – 24: I just added Reuter: Oddly Enough) I checked out all my wordpress entries and were satisfied on how they were short and had lots of ridiculous tags and mostly involved stuff about me. and although i am incredibly fond of the header I made for this blog, i think after this i shall return to irregularly posting in my livejournal. becuase.. my livejournal is excellent. plus, i like my header for my livejournal slightly more. johnny rzeznik + brand new lyrics + sheet music = <3. if you’re interested, my current lj header is here.. My two previous headers have been Incubus and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, two other bands I’m a huge fan of. I made them.

regardless, i felt this class was quite delightful.. plus i enjoyed writing in this blog. <3 i finish here at level 68, in Blade’s Edge Mountains, possibly one of the most annoying zones ever without a flying mount. A LEVEL AND A HALF TO GO. yay mages.

Wine and Cheese

Wine and Cheese. Tonight I went to quite the classy party, cut short by my lack of discipline. I went to a fancy wine and cheese party as my friends apartment, with things like sharp cheddar, some kinda white cheese, ritz crackers, wheat thins…well, ok, it was the least classy wine and cheese party around. Fun none the less. Tonight is looking like a rough night for Mr. J. M. Carlonovich, as there is much much much to do. Two more posts after this one and I’ll have 13, though certainly not in the 4 a week manner.

So let’s discuss something. I used to have 2 fiddler crabs, Captain Ahab and Lady MacBeth. They recently died. I’m now in the market for new pets. So let’s get some advice going on. Fish? Hermit crab? Frog? Right now I’m feeling hermit crab. I still have a bunch of  crab food left over, and I kind of miss the clicking of their little chitinous claws on the tank. So? Help me out here.

The Speakers

I loved this panel of speakers. Of course, I’m also a junior creative writing major, so I’ve had block and gess extensively, and I’ll be seeing Chang next semester. I kind of loved it and thought it was super helpful. I mean, I’m not double majoring as I should be, so it’s good to hear about how impractical this major will be. Luckily, I’m not going for the full on writer experience.

I think the best part of the speech was on the money you make from novels. I knew, of course, that no one really becomes rich being a writer unless you’re super awesome great (which I’m not) but it was pretty helpful knowing what kind of cash to expect in the event of anything happening, such as book publishing. It kind of sounds like a really good hobby that’s good fun, and if you’re lucky, might get you some extra dough. Fantastical.

Work work work

So this week has been absolutely ludicrous. I’m closing in on a major crash, I’m hoping I can make it till after finals beforehand. Let’s do a small recap of the things that have happened to my electronics:

The sound card on my desktop is no longer working

The network card on my laptop is no longer working

My cell phone is on its last breath

As if this all weren’t enough, I’m on this new schedule of not sleeping much, and forgetting to eat until usually sometime around 6pm. Finals cannot be over soon enough.

AEPhi

Random topic, but I was trying to think of something new and different to write about. I am currently a sister of the sorority on campus, alpha epsilon phi. I decided last year that joining a sorority is something that I wanted to get involved in. After going through the whole rush process, I recieved a bid to AEPhi along with a few of my friends. I choose to pledge them because to me their organization seemed to be the most down to earth. All the sisters were so nice, took the time to know you, and really made you feel comfortable whenever you walked into their house. After pledging I really noticed the amount of work that we do not only for the school but for the community. So no sorority girls aren’t just the dumb preppy girls that just drink their lives away. We actually are really productive. While in the sorority you have to keep a mininum of a 2.5 GPA in order to be active; if you earn lower than that priveledges are taken away. Also, we regularly are involved with on campus fundraising and activites, as well as other opportunities within Galssboro. Recently we helped out at the local police station and the Light the Night Walk in Camden. I’m happy that I decided to join. They have become my best friends and my family. Pledging AEPhi was probably the best decision that I have made at Rowan.

Today’s speakers

The speakers today were very interesting. I enjoyed hearing their persepectives of creative writing and the descriptions of their courses. However, I felt they were very discouraging for those who are majoring in Writing Arts, in saying that if you consider yourself a creative writer most likely you won’t get a job. This doesn’t really apply to me because I’m elementary ed major and writing arts. The speakers made me more aware of the struggle writers have to make a living. I didn’t realize that if you publish a few good books that you necessarily wouldn’t be recognized in the world of writers.

Winter break!!!

So I’m so excited for these two weeks to end becuase they are too stressful and I can’t wait to go home!!! I love Christmas, it is my favorite holiday! This is the first year that I am actually excited to see my extended family. I think it’s because I really haven’t seen them in a hiwle. And after Christmas, I’m going to Mexico with my family and I’m super excited for that!! Hope everyone has a great break!

Second life

Today my roommate and I were talking about the program second life; she had to do it for class. Anyways, she was explaining that it was like this real world, and people got to pick what they wanted to be as if it was their second life. I know we talked about this during class, but I still don’t understand how people can get so involved with a program like second life. We were saying how some people get so into it that they actually become these people, lose money because they are constantly buying items on it, and ultimately lose sight of the real world. How do people let themselves get lost in a life that isn’t even real?

Getting sick

Hey everyone!!! Today was not a fun day, I woke up with a bed head cold and I have been so lazy all day!! I am procrastinating my work even though I have so much. And since I have been doing nothing, I have become addicted to facebook; not like I wasn’t before. I have been on that website all day and continue to revisit facebook even though nothing has changed!! It’s like facebook hypnotizes you!
